While JShop Server allows you to take credit card details directly on your site, please note that you should ensure the overall security of your server and, preferably, invest in a firewall.

This is a very costly procedure rarely associated with independent
online traders - and indeed, many of the larger ecommerce companies.

The alternative is to use a third-party payment gateway, an excellent way to dramatically increase security and reduce costs. A payment gateway allows internet merchants to accept payments online with credit and debit cards, then process, verify, and accept or decline credit card transactions on behalf of the merchant through a highly secure internet connection. The money will be transferred directly to your bank account.

The third-party company will of course charge a fee for their services, but this is always nominal compared to the costs of running your own ultra secure server and processing the credit card details yourself; plus of course the consumer confidence you will be buying with such trusted names as Protx and Worldpay is invaluable.

You are entirely free to choose your own from the following list of JShop-integrated payment gateways (if the payment gateway you prefer is not listed below then this can be integrated for you at no extra cost). If you have no idea what any of this means, don't worry - I am always on hand, and more than happy, to offer expert consultancy at absolutely no charge!
